SUBMISSION PERIOD HAS ENDED.

But here's how people joined our badass scifi radio show:

1. Create a radio broadcast from the future.

Imagine it is 100 years in the future. You are on a space ship or a space colony, and the only way to communicate with other people is through a one-way radio broadcast. Record your message to other space colonist, telling us who you are and why you are broadcasting. Include any interesting information about your situation: what’s the name of your home, how many people are with you, your role in the community, etc. (5 minutes or less)

We are particularly interested in stories addressing:
  1. Diaspora, colonization, and exile
  2. Body modification and 3D printing
  3. Talking in coded language
  4. Space social classes and jobs
  5. Myths about what life on Earth was like
  6. Gender, feminism, queerness, binaries, and rule breaking!

End note: After you record, take a few seconds and tell us, in your own voice, about the thing you would miss most if you left Earth.

Plot points:

There's the only a few plot points to be mindful of:

To live on Mars (which is being terraformed), people take a hormone called "marserone" that helps them physically transition for the Martian surface. It also makes them wookey-level hairy. Mars also has a forced-breeding problem that isn't popular with the colonists.

The Asteroid Belts are being mined for ores similar to gold in alaska, its hard work, there's an uprising in the works.

Earth's moon is a really nice colony comprised of sectors of bubble tents, where people are gentle and fall in love a lot - but its also maybe a little white bread.

Earth, no one really thinks about earth much once they leave.

2. Upload your recording.

Rolling submissions for Season 1 end May 1, 2015.

You can record your story in a quiet room with an iPhone using the built-in voice memo program (detailed instructions), or you can use a studio setup and send us a .WAV file.

Please leave a little breathing room between sentences for editing. Don’t worry about getting it perfect in one take. It is okay to try saying a line more than one way, or to stop and repeat yourself if you need to. We will edit them to make you sound amazing!

After you record your story, sync your phone with your computer (detailed instructions), then upload your voice memo below. Please be sure to include your first and last name in the file name.
